Following the bill’s signing, Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt sued the town, arguing that the evaluate violates point out legislation.
“In handling that fund, community personnel will be assisting or encouraging abortion by processing promises for community resources to go over prices incurred in getting abortions,” Schmitt mentioned in a created assertion.
In addition to the $1 million for abortion logistical assistance, the bill sets aside a different $500,000 for other kinds of care reproductive care, including accessibility to doulas and lactation assist.

Schmitt had threatened to file suit right before Thursday’s bill signing, but the mayor was undeterred.
